Remove Users Report

The Remove Users (Remuser) report permanently removes selected user records.

This report is dangerous because you could feasibly remove your entire user database by failing to make appropriate selections.

Every time this report erases user records, it creates a .dmp file which contains the user records it erased. If you have erased user records that you did not intend to erase using this report, it may be possible to restore them using this file and the Load Users Report. See the Load Users Report topic for more information.

This report is password protected. If you do not know the password, see your supervisor. This report should only be run after a full system backup.

However, the Remove User report will not remove these three groups of users:

Users with unpaid bills
Users with active charges
Users with active holds

If users have paid bills (bills with a balance due of zero), the report will remove the user record but leave the bill record behind. Likewise, for users that have inactive charges or inactive holds, the report will remove the user record but leave the charge or hold record behind. (Refer to Remove Paid Bills Report if you want to remove bill records for the users who have been removed from the system. Refer to the Purge Charge History Report to remove inactive charge history, and to the Purge Inactive Holds Report to remove inactive hold records.)

After you remove the user records, you must run the Add, Delete, Update User (Aduusertext) report to update the library user information and text indexes.

When new records are added to SirsiDynix Symphony, or modifications are made to existing records, the Add, Delete, Update User report indexes the words in the records so they can be searched and browsed in the user searches. When users are removed, the report updates the library user information and text indexes and erases all references to words in that user record.

If you try to display deleted user records before the Add, Delete, Update User report is run, the ”Unavailable for display” message appears. The user IDs will be available for reuse once the report is run.

The results of this report are embedded in the report log. Do not select to view, print, or email results only, or the system will return an error message. In the View Finished Reports window, if you select the View Results check box but do not select the Format Report check box, WordPad may open and begin the unformatted report output with the following formatting text.
