Place Blanket Hold Wizard Properties

You can change certain system settings for the Place Blanket Hold wizard using the Set Properties window. The Place Blanket Hold wizard allows you to set the following properties.

Display Property Page

You can choose when to display the Place Blanket Hold wizard’s Set Properties window by selecting one of the following options.

Wizard Startup – Displays the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard until you end the wizard session or log off the client.
Never – Does not display the Set Properties window the first time you access the wizard. If Never is selected and you want to open the Set Properties window, point to the wizard’s toolbar button, right-click, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

Depending on the value selected in Display Property Page, defaults may appear as the first step of the wizard. Property values that are changed in the first step of a wizard are retained only until the right-click method is used to set properties.

Behavior

On the Behavior tab, select or clear any of the following check boxes.

Display Suspension Dates – Displays the Date Suspended and Date Unsuspended fields in the wizard. If this option is not selected, you will be unable to suspend a blanket hold when it is placed.
Display Hold Level – Displays the level options. The hold level options include Title and Copy.
Display Hold Range – Displays the range options. The hold range options include Library, Group, and System.
Display Recall Status – Displays the recall status options. The recall status options include Allow Recall, Don’t Recall, and Recall Now (RUSH).
Display Hold Reserve – Displays the Reserve Hold check box. The Reserve Hold check box allows you to place a blanket hold on a reserved item.

Reserve Item Hold Default

Hold Reserve Desk Item – Select this check box to specify that any blanket holds placed will be on items at the Reserve Desk.

If the Hold Reserve Desk Item check box is selected, all blanket holds will automatically be placed on reserved items. In contrast, if you select the Display Hold Reserve property, you can choose whether you want to place a blanket hold on a reserved item.

Pickup Library Default

Select one of the following Pickup Library options. The Pickup Library is the library where the user will pick up the item when available.

Workstation Library – Specifies the login or station library as the default pickup library.
User Library – Specifies the library for whom the hold is placed as the default pickup library.

Defaults

On the Defaults tab, you can customize your use of the wizard.

Level/Range

Select the following default values for placing a blanket hold.

Copies Needed – Specifies the default number of copies required to fill the blanket hold (up to 50).
Expires – Specifies the date the blanket hold is considered obsolete. The blanket hold expiration date is used as the default expiration date of the individual holds that are part of the blanket hold. (You may specify different expiration dates for the blanket hold and the individual holds.)
Level – Specifies the Level option used when placing a hold. You have these options:
Copy – Places a Copy level blanket hold.
Title – Places a title- level blanket hold.
Range – Specifies the Range option used when placing a blanket hold. You have these options:
Library – Places a blanket hold on the Library range of records.
Group – Places a blanket hold on the Group range of records.
System – Places a blanket hold on the System range of records.

Recall Status

Select one of the following fields to specify the type of recall that has been placed on an item.

Allow Recall – Specifies that if the current user has had the item for at least as long as the specified recall loan period, the item can be recalled even if the item is not due.
Don’t Recall – Specifies that the user requesting the blanket hold wait for the item to be returned and made available for the hold. The item is not recalled if it is currently checked out to another user.
Recall Now (RUSH) – Changes the current user’s due date to the current date. A notice is sent to the current user indicating that the item is to be returned to the library immediately.

Helpers

On the Helpers tab, you can select the helpers you want to display in the Place Blanket Hold wizard. Click a specific Helper button to display the Helper properties that you can set.
