Prediction MARC Holding Status Report

The Prediction MARC Holding Status (Predictholding) report sets the prediction holding linking status of more than one prediction record at a time. This allows you to begin adding MARC holdings to serial control records that were already receiving issues when you began adding MARC Holdings to the serial control.

For example, you have a weekly serial and have predicted 52 predictions for the next year. In the middle of the year you decide to turn on the MARC updating features for serial controls. Any existing unreceived predictions will still be ”turned off,” because they were generated before the automatic MARC update features of the serial controls and distributions were turned on. More specifically, the holdings link number for all of those existing predictions would be 0. This report will set their link numbers to the same number as the parent serial control when it was turned on.

By default, only prediction records that have not yet received any copies and serial controls that are set up to add MARC holdings information to the bibliographic record are selected.

For this report to be effective, the MARC holdings update features in the OPAC Display folder and Distribution records must be enabled, and there must be predictions that were generated before the MARC holdings features were enabled. To automatically update serial controls (at the title level only) to initiate MARC Holdings, use the Serial Control Holding Flag report.
