How do I check in a bookdrop item that has a damaged or missing barcode?
Using the Checkin Bookdrop Items Wizard and the Item Search Helper, you can check in an item with a damaged or missing barcode that was left in the bookdrop.
How do I check in a bookdrop item that has associated materials?
A user can use the bookdrop to return an item that has associated materials.
To check in bookdrop items with associated materials

In the Special Circulation Functions group, click the Checkin Bookdrop Items wizard. |

In the Date box, use the Calendar gadget to select the discharge date. |

In the Item ID box, scan the item’s barcode, or use the Item Search helper to identify the item. The Confirm Number of Pieces override displays the Item has associated materials message. The number of pieces associated with an item also displays in the Confirm Number of Pieces override. |

In the Override field, type the override code provided by your library administrator. |

Click Override & Discharge, and continue checking in items. |
What do I do if I see the Route/Transit to [Library] Message?
If you check in an item that is to be sent to another library, the Route/Transit To [Library] message appears. Depending on your configuration, the following options appear.

Put Item In Transit – Checks in the item and places it in transit to the specified library. |
|
•
|
Do Not Put Item in Transit – Checks in the item and keeps it at your library. You can always put the item in transit later. |
How do I prevent the message from displaying if an overdue item is discharged?
To prevent the message from displaying when an overdue item is discharged, clear the Warning If User Billed check box on the Behavior tab in the Checkin Bookdrop Items wizard’s Set Properties window.
What happens when an item is checked in with a back-dated check in date and an overdue bill is created?
When an item is checked in with a back-dated check in date and an overdue bill is create, the following occurs:

The patron’s activity date is updated with the current date. |
|
•
|
The overdue bill date uses the back-dated check in date. |
|
•
|
The Date Returned in the bill record displays the back-dated check in date. |
|
•
|
The Transaction Date field in the bill record displays the date of the actual checkin transaction or the actual date the bill was created. |
When a lost item is returned and the check in date is back-dated, the associated lost bill is paid with a payment type of CANCEL, and the payment date is the back-dated check in date.
