Update Staff Client Management Wizard
The Update Staff Client Management wizard is used by SirsiDynix Symphony administrators to schedule the automatic update of staff clients. Upgrades can be performed site-wide or by selected libraries. The scheduling features of this wizard depend on the global configuration value selected in the Update Staff Client by Specified Libraries Policy.
In this global policy, you have two options:
Caution Changing the default value of this global configuration policy, which is Update Staff Client at All the Libraries, may cause an undesirable effect when it comes to updating staff clients. Use caution when changing this policy value.
When the Update Staff Client Management wizard is used to schedule staff client updates, a report is run at 2:00 a.m. on the date(s) selected that updates the stamp file for the appropriate client. Any workstation belonging to the libraries selected in this wizard will be prompted during the session on the date specified whether to update the staff client or not. By default, the initial schedule date and time is tomorrow at 2:00 a.m.
The staggered client update feature is only available when updating a Unicorn Version GL3.1 client to a later version and when connecting to a server at Unicorn Version GL3.1 or higher.
The Update Staff Client Management wizard is not delivered on a toolbar. You must add this wizard to the toolbar.

Scheduling Staff Clients to Update All At Once (Default)
If the Update Staff Client at All the Libraries value is selected in the global configuration policy, the client stamp file will be upgraded for all libraries according to the schedule selected by the SirsiDynix Symphony administrator. The Update Staff Client by Specified Libraries option in the Update Staff Client Management wizard does not appear. SirsiDynix Symphony administrators are only be able to select the date and time of the staff client upgrade for all libraries.
To schedule a staff client upgrade

Click the Update Staff Client Management wizard. |

Select the Schedule to Update Full Installation check box if you wish to fully update staff clients with the new client programs. |

If you are updating all clients at once, select a Date to Update Client in the calendar. Use the right and left arrows to select a month, and click the desired date. Updates are scheduled at 2:00 a.m., local time. |

Click OK to save your selection. |

The date(s) you select is actually the date the update report runs. When the report runs, the appropriate stamp file will be updated, and workstations will be prompted during the session on the date specified whether to update the staff client or not. |
Scheduling Staff Clients to Update By Specified Libraries
If the Update Staff Client by Specified Libraries value is selected in the global configuration policy, SirsiDynix Symphony administrators have the ability to stagger the updating of the client stamp file by selected libraries. The Update Staff Client by Specified Libraries option in the Update Staff Client Management wizard appears. SirsiDynix Symphony administrators are able to select libraries and schedule the upgrade of their staff clients on a predetermined schedule.
To schedule a staff client upgrade, do the following.

Click the Update Staff Client Management wizard. |

Select the Schedule to Update Full Installation check box if you wish to fully update staff clients with the new client programs. |

In the Library Policy list, click a library. Or, you can press CTRL+SHIFT to select a range of libraries, or press CTRL+ALT to select multiple libraries not listed sequentially. |

Select a Date to Update Client in the calendar. Use the right and left arrows to select a month, and click the desired date. Updates are scheduled at 2:00 a.m., local time. |

Click the down arrow to add this library/date combination to the list. |

|
You can click the up arrow or double-click to remove a library/date combination. |

You may continue as many times as you wish by selecting different libraries and possibly different dates. |

Click OK to save your selections. |
