Delete Authority Entries Report

The Delete Authority Entries (Auth_maint) report removes unnecessary 960 entries in MARC authority records. Previous versions of SirsiDynix Symphony stored information in the 960 entry to indicate bibliographic entries for which the authority heading was valid. This information is now stored in Format policies.

If SirsiDynix Symphony is configured for authority checking, the Delete Authority Entries report will also check bibliographic records against the authority indexes. It compares existing bibliographic entries to the authority index, adding and removing |?UNAUTHORIZED headings as needed.

The Delete Authority Entries report contains the Basic Tab: Reports.

Run this report if you run the Rebuild Authority Index (Rebuildauth) report, or if you change Authority Index Variations in cataloging formats.

The Rebuild Text Database (Rebuildtext) report should always be run after the Delete Authority Entries report.

For ongoing cataloging, authority checking is handled by the Add, Delete, Update Databases (Adutext) report.
