Create Interest Wizard

The Create Interest wizard is part of the Interest Information and Maintenance group and is used to create an interest profile for a specified user.

To create an interest profile

In the Interest Information and Maintenance group, click the Create Interest wizard.

In the User Search window, scan the user’s barcode, or specify one or more search criteria and text on which to search. If available, you can also click Current to accept the most recently viewed or modified user.

You can restrict your user search to a certain library, or library group, by selecting the library’s name, or group name, in the Library list.

Click Search.

If a list of matching user records displays, select a user, and click Create Interest.

When the Interest window displays, type the interest name in the Interest field, and type one or more search words separated by commas in the Search String box.

Continue to type information in the Interests Tab, and click Create Interest.

A dialog displays with the message Record Created to confirm that the record has been created.

Click OK to close the window.

To view the interest record you just created for this user, click the Display User’s Interests helper. (This helper is the same as using the Display Interest Wizard.)

After an interest profile has been created, select one of the following options.

Modify Interest to change the interest information you just created.

•

Create Another Interest to return to the User Search window to create another interest for either the same user or a different user.

•

Return to List to return to the Interests window. (This option displays only if the user has more than one interest record, and you displayed one of the records).

•

Close to exit the wizard.

When this wizard is used to create an interest record, if a keyword index is not selected, the default keyword index is General.
