View SMS Message Logs Wizard
The View SMS Message Logs wizard allows library staff to search for and view a log of SMS notification messages sent to specified library patrons. Having a history of SMS message transmissions allows the library to track and recall instances when direct contact has been made with patrons notifying them of important issues, such as a bill notice or overdue item notice.
It is important to understand that there is no guarantee of when the SMS message will be sent by the SMS server. It depends on the number being sent, internet traffic, and the size of the backlog of messages that need to be sent. Therefore, you should not expect that the text message gets sent out immediately or shows up immediately in the message log.
When the message has been sent by the server to the third-party SMS provider, the message log shows the status as SENT. If the third-party SMS provider cannot send the message, the status in the message logs displays as ERROR. While the message is queued on the SMS server, the message does not display in the log.
If the phone number is not valid, the status of INVALID_NUMBER displays. This status indicates that the phone number is not a valid phone number or that it violates one of more of the following rules: national phone number must be less than or equal to 14 numbers in length, region (country) code must conform to ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 standards, phone number must not include a plus (+) sign, and phone number must only have numeric characters.
WorkFlows only retrieves a limited amount of logs. If you need more history of messages sent, contact your Customer Support Representative to have them get the logs for you.
