Authority Files Tab: MARC Import Utility Wizard
The Authority Files tab in the MARC Import Utility wizard allows you to view authority files that were imported with bibliographic record files, prepare authority files to be uploaded, and to remove obsolete authority files.
Viewing Authority Files
To view authority files

In the MARC Import Utility wizard, click the Authority Files tab. |

Under File List, a list of previously imported files containing authority records appears. Authority data is in Sirsi flat format, and is stored in the /Unicorn/Marcimport/Authtemp directory. Select a file in the list, and click View. |

Your word processing package starts, and an ASCII file of tagged authority data appears. When you have finished viewing the file, close the word processor window. |

Click Cancel if you want to exit the MARC Import Utility wizard. |
An ASCII file will display in a format identical to the one used for displaying authority records.

Preparing Authority Files for Loading
Authority files FTP’ed or copied directly to the server must be converted to Sirsi flat format before being loaded into the authority database via reports.:
Do not use the Prepare step if the authority file was imported using the MarcImport wizard. It could corrupt your authority data file.
To prepare an authority file for loading

In the MARC Import Utility wizard, click the Authority Files tab. |

Under File List, a list of authority files that have already been imported to the server appears. Select a file that was FTP’d or copied directly to the server, and click Prepare. |

Click Cancel if you want to exit the MARC Import Utility wizard. |
Removing Obsolete Authority Files
To conserve disk space, authority files should be removed periodically.
To remove an authority file

In the MARC Import Utility wizard, click the Authority Files tab. |

Under File List, a list of authority files that have already been imported appears. Select a file, and click Remove. |
|
3
|
Click Cancel if you want to exit the MARC Import Utility wizard. |
