FAQs: How do I configure my system to send requests and receive replies from OCLC Interlibrary Loan?
The Interlibrary Loan module is configured to send interlibrary loan requests to OCLC and receive replies from OCLC. Standard Interlibrary Loan Request format templates and an OCLC Connections policy (used by SirsiDynix Symphony to access the OCLC production server) are available for systems configured to use the Interlibrary Loan module.
The delivered Interlibrary Loan Request Format policy is based on ISO standards, and is sufficient for sending interlibrary loan requests to OCLC.
To access OCLC’s production server, you will need to obtain your site access information from OCLC. Confirm the domain name and port you connect to and the login ID, authorization key, and password information required. You may need to modify the delivered OCLC Connections policy with these new values.
Instructions for signing up to test interoperability with OCLC’s production server are on OCLC’s web site at http://www.oclc.org/isoill/testing/default.htm.

Important Notes about the ILL Format Entries

• | The Response Type, OCLC ILL Transaction Number and Response Detail entries must be included in the Full and Template synonym list entries in order to receive and view responses from OCLC. |
• | The OCLC ILL Transaction Number is in the format REVIEW: XXX. A typical Response Type returned from OCLC is 8/30/2007: ILL ANSWER, which indicates that OCLC has received the interlibrary loan request. |
• | A typical Response Detail returned from OCLC is 8/30/2007: Request specified Direct to Review. |
