Patron Card Template Wizard
The Patron Card Template wizard allows you to create and maintain templates for printers with built-in card printing capability. Card printers, such as an EZ4TT printer, can print several types of cards, and so multiple card templates can be created. The card template contains printer commands that determine the layout of the patron card. The commands are printer vendor-specific, so you will need to contact your printer vendor to determine the codes to use. The patron’s name and user ID will print on the card in the format specified by this template. Patron Card Template policies are linked to printers defined in the Patron Card Printer Policy Helper.

Attributes
The Patron Card Template wizard displays the following attributes.
• | Name |
• | Description |
• | Patron Card Printer |
• | Datacode Prefix |
• | Control Character Prefix |
• | Control Character Postfix |
• | Template |
This attribute uniquely identifies each Patron Card Template policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), dollar sign ($), and period (only if it appears as the last character). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.
This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
Select a printer defined in the Patron Card Printer policies. These policies specify the character encoding used by the card printers. You can use the Patron Card Printer Policy Helper to modify an existing policy or create a new policy, if needed.
This attribute specifies the prefix character for the datacode (text string that prints on the card). The delivered values are: $, #, and %. By default, $ is selected. You can type other values as required by your card printer documentation.
Some printers require that each printer command be followed by a newline or control character. If your card printer requires this, indicate the control character prefix. The delivered values are: \, #, and !. By default, \ is selected. You can type other values as required by your card printer documentation.
If the printer requires a newline or control character, indicate the control character postfix. The delivered values are: \, #, and !. By default, \ is selected. You can type other values as required by your card printer documentation.
In the Template box, right-click, and from the shortcut menu, select the printer commands specified by your printer vendor. Use a new line for each command. When you select an item from the shortcut menu, the wizard will automatically enter the control character prefix, followed by the decimal value for the control character, followed by the control character postfix. You can type other values as required by your card printer documentation.
For example:
^s2^50,2^W60^LAB,60,60,1,1,1,1,$FELE,10,10,60,200BA,150,40,26,60,0,1,$UO\13\AC,110,130,1,1,1,0.$UALE,100,10,10,400,200E
