FAQs: Automating the e-Library Login Process
Libraries may require logins for the e-Library for a number of reasons, such as controlling access to restricted databases, setting a default language, or setting environment parameters to set screen defaults. These libraries often set up links to the e-Library from the library’s home page. For the convenience of library users, these links can be configured to pass login and PIN or password information automatically, so that users do not have to key in login information.
For example, the URL for the e-Library on a UNIX server displays as follows.
http://my-elibrary.library.org/uhtbin cgisirsi/x/0/57/49?user_id=####&password=####
For example, the URL for the e-Library on a NT server displays as follows.
http://my-elibrary.library.org/uhtbin cgisirsi.exe/x/0/57/49?user_id=####&password=####
The number symbols (####) in the preceding examples should be replaced with the default user ID and PIN or password to be used when logging in.
Creating a New Login
For most situations, creating a new login is as simple as creating a new user record and assigning the appropriate User Profile and Library policies. If there is not an appropriate User Profile policy that includes the User Access and Environment policies desired, it might be necessary to create a new User Profile policy, along with new User Access and Environment policies.
All of these policies can be found on the Configuration Module toolbar.

• | Environment Wizard– Access Control Configuration |

Refer to the following steps for creating a new login.
1 | Create a new User Access policy. Assign the appropriate Request List, User Level, Command List, Report Groups, Properties, and Access List. |
2 | Create a new Environment policy. Assign the appropriate Screens and Gateways. |
3 | Once the User Access and Environment policies are in place, create a new User Profile policy. |
4 | Create the user record. |
