Community Information Format Wizard

Community Information Format policies control the display, editing, data validation, and indexing of all fields in community information records used in SirsiDynix Symphony. A Community Information Format policy lists entries allowed to be used by a given type of community information record, along with the characteristics of each entry. When creating or editing a community information record, SirsiDynix Symphony prompts you only with appropriate community information format choices at any place on the system where the format policy is presented.

The community information format, which matches the MARC 21 Community Information standard, is designed for describing non-bibliographic resources that fulfill the information needs of a community. Records can contain information about an individual with a particular expertise, organizations or groups, programs or services, community events, or other community resources.

For more information, see the Library of Congress MARC 21 Concise Format for Community Information Web page (http://www.loc.gov/marc/community/eccihome.html).

Since the Community Information format is used to describe non-bibliographic records, it is assigned its own format purpose, the Community Information format purpose, and has its own wizard. In previous versions of SirsiDynix Symphony, the Community Information format was part of the Cataloging Format policy. Although this policy is now separate from the Catalog Format policy, its functionality is the same as before.

Cataloging, circulation, and acquisitions wizards that display Catalog format purpose policies for selection will display the Community Information format purpose policy as well.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove Community Information Format policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Selecting an Authority Format policy displays the following tabs:
