Remove Item Hold Wizard

The Remove Item Hold wizard is used to remove a hold placed on a specific item.

To remove a hold on an item

The Remove Item Hold window displays.

Note: If you want to use an RFID pad device to scan items, be sure to scan them one at a time so you can perform the appropriate action for each item. If you place more than one item on the RFID pad at a time, the RFID pad scans all the items in rapid succession, and WorkFlows only displays the information for the last item scanned.

The List of Holds list displays and shows a list of holds for the item. For each hold, the List of Holds displays the user ID and username for whom the hold was placed, the hold level, whether the item is circulated from the Reserve Desk, the hold status, and the pickup library.

If the Display Suspension Dates property is selected in the wizard properties, the begin suspension and end suspension dates display if the hold is suspended.

If the library is configured to ship items to users using Books by Mail, the mail service to be used for shipping the item displays, if applicable.

If the Display Summary Screen property is selected in the wizard properties, the Remove Holds confirmation dialog box displays and lists the user ID, item ID, and title for each hold that was removed. Click Close to close the confirmation dialog box.

If the Display Summary Screen property is not selected in the wizard properties, you are returned to the Remove Item Hold window.

When you have finished removing item holds, select one of the following options:

Remove Holds for Another Item to remove holds for another item
Close to exit the wizard

Important Considerations When Using this Wizard

If an available hold is removed, the Remove Item Hold wizard checks to see if the item has another hold on it and which library owns the item. If the next hold has a different pickup library, or if the item does not have another hold on it and should be sent back to the owning library, the Remove Item Hold wizard will put the item in transit automatically or prompt you to put the item in transit.
The wizard puts the item in transit or displays a prompt depending on the Configure Automatic Transit Of Items For Circulation policy in the Global Configuration wizard.
If the item has any exceptions, a status alert window may display.
