If I want more than one copy of a title to fill the blanket hold, do I place a Title level blanket hold or a Copy level blanket hold?
If you place a Title level blanket hold on one or more titles, WorkFlows selects the first available copy of each title to fill the blanket hold. If you want more than one copy of a title to fill the blanket hold, place a Copy level hold on each copy you want.
What is the difference between the Expires field and the Expiration Date field in this wizard?
The Place Blanket Hold wizard first requests information that applies to the blanket hold itself, so the Expires field specifies the expiration date of the blanket hold. The wizard then requests information for every individual hold that is part of the blanket hold, and the Expiration Date field allows you to specify the expiration date for each individual hold. By default, the Expiration Date field for the individual hold contains the same date you entered in the Expires field for the blanket hold. You may specify different expiration dates for the blanket hold and the individual holds.
How do I place a reserve hold with the Place Blanket Hold wizard?
You can use the Place Blanket Hold wizard to place a blanket hold on reserved items. The Display Hold Reserve property or the Hold Reserve Desk Item property must be selected for the blanket hold to be placed on the requested copies at the Reserve Desk. Remember that you must login with administrative privileges to change wizard properties.
Why can’t I place a reserve blanket hold on an item?
You cannot place a reserve hold on an item that has not been put on reserve or checked out from the Reserve Desk. If you want to place a reserve hold, only copies on reserve and circulated by the Reserve Desk are considered available for the hold.
Why can’t I place a regular blanket hold on reserved items?
You cannot place a regular blanket hold on reserved items. If a regular blanket hold is being placed, only copies not on reserve and not circulated by the Reserve Desk are considered available for the blanket hold.
How do I place a blanket hold for a user whose library privileges have expired?
If selected in Helper properties to display, you can use the Renew User Privilege helper to extend the user’s library privileges.
If the user has a credit account and policies are configured to automatically pay privilege fees with money from the credit account, fees created when renewing a user’s privilege may be paid automatically with funds from the user’s credit account. For more information, see FAQs: Credit User Accounts.
You can also use the Renew Privilege wizard to renew a user’s library privileges.
