Charge Records

A charge record documents the movement (circulation) of an item from its home location to its new temporary location. At any time, the library knows the status and location of all its items. When an item is checked out to a user, SirsiDynix Symphony creates a charge record to note important data. The charge record contains the item identifier, borrower’s identifier, date and time the item was charged out, and date and time the item is due back. Billing information may be included if an item is overdue, recalled, or has bills associated with it. Also, when checking in items that are multi-circ items, the number of pieces returned can be stored in the charge record, and this information can be included in circulation statistics reporting.

The date due can be entered at the time the item is checked out, or assigned by SirsiDynix Symphony based on the circulation rules for a particular item type and that particular user profile.

When an item is returned and discharged, the charge record is deleted from the database.
