Creating Spines and Book Labels

With the capability of printing book and spine labels, you can create multiple label templates that include text elements, as well as elements from bibliographic, call number, item, and holding records. When configuring book and spine labels you can customize splitting call numbers onto separate lines. You can also print labels, as well as preview labels before printing. If you want to print labels in batch, you can run the Print Custom Labels report.

Once your label templates are created, you can select one as your document default for all labels.

Or, cataloging wizards can be configured to automatically print a book or spine label using the label template specifically defined for a library/item type combination. For example, when the cataloger searches for a title and adds a new item for the MAIN item library with an item type of BOOK, the cataloging wizards can be configured to automatically print a book or spine label and use a label template specifically defined for MAIN/BOOK. For more information, see Label Template Profiles Map Wizard.

For more information about setting up your label stock and setting document defaults for your printer, go to Printing Labels.

You can configure different printers (as well as different label sets). Contact SirsiDynix Client Sales for peripheral recommendations.
