Modify Title Helper

When using the Add Ordered Items to Catalog wizard, the Modify Title helper allows you to make changes to material already in the catalog. Depending on how the Behavior properties are set for this helper, you may be able to modify information on the Control and/or Bibliographic tabs of a title record.

To modify a title

Click the Modify Title helper, and the Item Search window appears.

Use Item Search to search for the title you want to modify. If a Current record exists for the item, click the Current information link to access the last record displayed, modified, or added.

If your search finds results, a list of matching records displays in the hit list area. If the view pane is turned on, the selected title will display in the lower portion of the window with two tabs, Description and Call Number/Item. Select the item you want to modify, and then click Modify.

To modify the MARC fixed data or bibliographic text of the title, click the Bibliographic Tab.

To modify information that is applicable to the entire title, click the Control Tab.

Click the Call Number/Item Tab. On this tab, you can modify the call number/item information for items and associated call numbers created by the Add Ordered Items to Catalog wizard, with the exception of the Call Number and the Item ID fields. The New Call Number and New Item ID fields are modified within the wizard flow.

To modify MARC holdings information, click the MARC Holdings Tab.

It is possible to preview and print spine and pocket labels using the Print Preview Labels Helper and Print Labels Helper.

After a title is modified, click Save to save your changes.

Click Close to exit the helper.

Important Considerations When Using this Helper

•

Users can only modify call numbers and items for libraries in their Call Number Maintenance and Item Maintenance library groups.

•

Users can only modify MARC holdings for libraries in their MARC Holdings Maintenance library group.

•

The Call Number/Item tab displays all items associated with the title. If the view pane is turned on, you can view information about a specific item. To do this, select the item listed in the tree that you want. Information about that specific item appears.

•

You can print title information from this helper using the Print Menu or Print wizard.
