What do I need to do before the T2090 can be used to inventory items?
Before the T2090 can be used to inventory items or track in-house usage, one application program, and two batch files written by SirsiDynix must first be loaded on the scanner. If the T2090 was purchased from another vendor, the program must be installed. In addition, a license fee for use of the software is required.
If you purchased your Intermec T2090 from SirsiDynix, no further action is required, since all files and the SirsiDynix application program are installed.
How do I install the T2090 scanner software if I did not purchase the scanner from SirsiDynix?
If you purchased a scanner from SirsiDynix, the barcode software has already been installed for you. If you did not get the scanner from SirsiDynix, use the following steps to install SirsiDynix’s barcode software on your Model T2090 scanner.
The following files are delivered with the WorkFlows client, in the \Workflows directory.
• | barcode.exe (must be installed on the T2090) |
• | t24fcopy.exe (must be installed on the workstation running WorkFlows client) |
• | t24fcopy.hlp |
• | t24fcopy.ico |
• | upload.bat (must be installed on the T2090) |
• | download.bat (must be installed on the T2090) |
To transfer the application programs from the workstation running WorkFlows to the T2090, do the following.
1 | On the workstation, run the FileCopy application software by clicking the t24fcopy.exe file in the directory where WorkFlows is installed. |
2 | On the FileCopy tab in the PC Filename and Path field, use the Browse button to locate the files that need to be downloaded to the scanner in the \Workflows directory of the workstation, or type the path and file to be downloaded to the scanner. |
For example
c:\Program Files\SIRSI\Workflows\barcode.exec:\Program Files\SIRSI\Workflows\upload.batc:\Program Files\SIRSI\Workflows\download.bat

This file must have 147,328 bytes. More or less means that the file is corrupt, and that it is necessary to FTP a new copy from SirsiDynix
3 | On the FileCopy tab, clear the Run Program and Convert.exe check boxes. |
4 | In the TRAKKER Antares Filename field, type the name that the executable will have on the T2090. |
c:barcode.exec:upload.batc:download.bat

Ensure that there are no spaces between the dash and the B3800 entry. The -B and -COM settings should correspond to the settings used in COM Port Setup tab. Check that the download cable that was shipped with your T2090 is connected to the docking cradle and the appropriate COM port on the back of the WorkFlows workstation. The default is COM1, but you may select COM2, COM3, COM4 on your client PC as long as you select the corresponding COM port during Com port setup.
8 | Press ENTER on the T2090. |
9 | Place the T2090 in its docking cradle. |
10 | Click Download on the FileCopy tab of the TRAKKER Antares FileCopy Utility on the workstation. A Protocol Status dialog box displays, followed by a dialog box indicating that the transfer was successful. |
11 | Repeat these steps until barcode.exe, upload.bat, and download.bat have all been transferred to the Intermec T2090. |

Once the download.bat file is downloaded to the scanner, the transfer command in Step 3 can be replaced by typing DOWNLOAD, then pressing ENTER, should it become necessary to download a later version of the barcode.exe file.
How do I set the time and date on the scanner?
Before scanning any barcodes, it is important that you set the time and date on the scanner.
1 | On the scanner, type DATE, and press ENTER. |
2 | Type the date in the format MM-DD-YYYY, and press ENTER. |
3 | Type TIME, and press ENTER. |
4 | Type the time in the format HH.MM.A or HH.MM.P to indicate A.M. or P.M., and press ENTER. For example, if it is 2:20 in the afternoon, type 02:20.p. Alternatively, you can use military time format HH.MM. For example, 13.00 is 1:00 P.M. |
How do I use the T2090 scanner to collect data?
1 | Verify that the barcode.exe application is running on the scanner. |
2 | On the scanner, type BARCODE, and press ENTER. |
3 | Hold the scanner 1-36 inches from the barcode to be scanned, press and hold ENTER, and sweep the entire barcode with the scanner beam. The LED displays red. The LED indicator turns green and beeps if the scan is successful. It turns red for one second if the scan is unsuccessful. Releasing the ENTER key before a scan is complete will turn off the scanner beam and the LED. |
4 | Barcodes are written to the bar.sav file on the c: drive of the scanner. This file has been modified to strip the first and last characters from Codabar formats before storing the files. |
5 | To quit scanning, clear the screen, or list barcodes, follow the instructions that display on the scanner. |
6 | You must quit the barcode.exe program before transferring data. |
How many barcodes can I scan on a single charge on the T2090?
The scanner can hold approximately 5000 transactions. With a fully charged battery, expect four to five hours of scanning. If the T2090 turns itself off, return the unit to the charging cradle and allow unit to recharge. No data will be lost; once the unit is recharged, the scanning process may be continued.
The internal nickel metal hydride battery requires several charge/discharge cycles to reach its full capacity. Do not be concerned if less than 1 hour of use is completed after the first charge/discharge cycle.
How do I transfer barcode files from the scanner to a workstation?
1 | On the scanner, to exit the barcode.exe application, type X, and press ENTER. The c:> prompt appears. |
2 | On the workstation, locate the directory where WorkFlows is installed, and then locate the t24fcopy.exe file. Double-click this file to run the FileCopy application software. |
3 | On the FileCopy tab in the PC Filename and Path field, click Browse to determine where the bar.sav will be uploaded and type the bar.sav file name, such as the \Workflows directory of the workstation, or type the path and file to be uploaded to the scanner. For example, c:\Program Files\SIRSI\Workflows\bar.sav. |
4 | On the FileCopy tab, clear the Run Program and Convert.exe check boxes. |
5 | In the TRAKKER Antares Filename field, type the name that the barcode file has on the scanner. For example, c:bar.sav |
6 | On the scanner, type UPLOAD, and press ENTER. |
7 | Put the scanner in the dock. Click Upload in the FileCopy utility on the workstation. |
8 | After the transfer is successful, click OK in the information box to continue. |

2 | Select the D menu option to delete the bar.sav file. |
How do I upload scanner data from the workstation to the server?
1 | On the workstation, in WorkFlows, click the Scanner Transfer wizard on the Utilities toolbar. |
2 | In the Transfer From section, type the directory and filename of the barcode file to be uploaded to the server, or use the Open File gadget to select C:\Program Files\SIRSI\Workflows\bar.sav.. |
3 | In the Transfer To section, use the following values. Select the library from the list. |
Field Name |
Value |
upath entry |

4 | Click OK to upload the scanner file to the server. Each time scanner data is uploaded, the scanner.dat file is appended. However, it is recommended that you run the Load Scanner Transactions report frequently. |
How is scanner data added to the SirsiDynix Symphony database?
Once the data in the scanner has been transferred to the server, the data must be added to the SirsiDynix Symphony database. The data from the scanner is loaded into SirsiDynix Symphony with the Load Scanner Transactions report for collection inventories. For information about this report, see FAQs: Creating an Inventory.
