Index Content Titles Report

When an e-Library patron clicks a list under Best Sellers or Recommended Reading, it seems like a standard catalog search is being sent. However, in a large library, it could take a long time for a dynamic ISBN search to be performed for the Best Sellers report, or for a dynamic author/title search to be performed for Recommended Reading.

The Index Content Titles report (Idxcontentkeys) provides the mechanism for speeding up the search. A dynamic search is not actually performed each time the link is clicked in the Best Sellers and Recommended Reading lists. Instead, the titles in the list are pre-indexed by this report.

This report is in the e-Library tab of reports.

The Index Content Titles report contains the Basic Tab: Reports.

When Index Content Titles is run, the searches are performed one time, and the title control numbers are stored for retrieval by patrons later. The title control number keys are stored in the following files.

/Unicorn/iBistro/best_seller.keys
/Unicorn/iBistro/rec_reading.keys

Instead of searching every list entry against the entire catalog, only the title control number keys file for the selected list is searched.

You must run the Index Content Titles report for the Best Sellers and Recommended Reading features to work. Typically, the report would be run weekly.
