Gateway Search Utility Tab

The Gateway Search Utility tab contains fields that are used to select specific gateway elements for a report. This tab may contain any of the following fields.

Element Types to Test

Two types of gateway elements may qualify for testing by the report.

Bulletin list elements — These are gateway elements that search the catalog based on a single field in the bibliographic record that indicates the bibliographic record is part of the bulletin list represented by the gateway element. The bibliographic record entries that are used for book list type bulletins may be updated using the Add Items to Item List (Additemlist) report and the Remove Items from Item List (Remitemlist) report.
Pre-defined catalog search elements — These are gateway elements that search the catalog based on actual predetermined search strategies. These search strategies are performed dynamically on the complete bibliographic database at the time the gateway element that represents the pre-defined search is selected.

Select one of the following for the Elements Types to Test option.

Bulletin List Elements and Pre-defined Catalog Search Elements selects both bulletin list elements and pre-defined catalog search elements for the report. This option is the default selection.
Pre-defined Catalog Search Elements Only selects only pre-defined catalog search elements for the report.
Bulletin List Elements Only selects only bulletin list elements for the report.

Gateway Name

The Gateway Name selection specifies the gateway to be modified. This selection is required. The report must be run for each gateway you want to modify. From the list, select only one gateway policy name each time the report is run.

Generate System Logs

When a report modifies records, it is possible to update the system logs as if the modifications were made at the workstation. Select this check box to add the modifications to the system logs, or clear the check box to exclude the modifications from the system logs.

HERE Library Override Name

Each gateway may have an implied HERE library search option. The HERE library is defined to reflect the station library the user is using when the search is performed. In the HERE Library Override Name field, either use the list to specify one library to override the HERE option, or leave the field blank to imply the value of ALL. A value of ALL includes all multiple libraries or the primary single library.

Note: This selection field does not display on Windows single library platforms.

Maximum Hit Threshold

In libraries that include pre-defined searches and bulletin lists as gateway element selections, you may set a maximum number of title hits that must be met for the pre-defined search or the bulletin icon to display as a selection to the user.

Minimum Hit Threshold

In libraries that include pre-defined searches and bulletin lists as gateway element selections, you may set a minimum number of bibliographic record hits that must be made for the pre-defined search or the bulletin icon to display as a selection to the user. This field is a required selection with a default value equal to one. Edit the numerical value to equal a different minimum value if desired.

Print Modified Elements Only

The Print Modified Elements Only option allows you to print only the elements for which the status would be changed from AVAILABLE to NOT AVAILABLE or visa versa, or to print all of the bulletin and/or pre-defined search elements that were selected for the gateway. By default, this check box is selected so only modified elements are printed. Clear the check box to print all selected elements.

Test Mode — No Update

The Test Mode — No Update option allows you to run the report without making any modifications to the database so you may review the gateway elements that would be modified. This option is useful for viewing a list of gateway elements to be modified before running the report to update the database. This check box is cleared by default so the report updates the gateway elements. Select the check box to run the report in test mode and not update the gateway elements.
