Hypertext Tab for Entries

If an entry is of the Entry Type, Hypertext, you can click on this entry information in the item record to search for additional, related information. For example, if the author’s name is a hypertext link, Clicking this name displays additional items written by this author.

This tab contains the following attributes.

The list of attributes depends on the purpose of the format.

Hypertext Search Name

This attribute is used with Z3950-purpose formats. From the list, select a Search Name policy to be used in this hypertext search. The Search Name Policy Helper is available for you to create a new search name or modify an existing one, if needed.

Hypertext Subfields

This attribute is used with Z3950-purpose formats. All subfields can be used, or specific subfields can be included or excluded.

Subfields Used in Hypertext Search

This attribute allows you to specify what information within the entry, based on selected subfields, to include in the new hypertext search. Use the Display Ordinary Class Subfields gadget to specify which subfields should be used when building a search string from this entry. All subfields can be used, or specific subfields can be included. It is also possible to exclude subfields.

For example, to include the likelihood of finding matching records when performing a hypertext lookup, do not include subfields that narrow your search. In the 100 entry in the MARC Format, setting the Related Subfields attribute to include only |a will prevent the hypertext search string from containing potentially limiting subfields, such as |w and |e.
