Entries Tab for Address and EDI Address Formats

Entry IDs are the building blocks that define the SirsiDynix Symphony fields and their characteristics in the various types of records used in SirsiDynix Symphony. Format policies have two types of entry IDs: simple and synonym lists. A simple entry ID identifies an entry that may be used in a specific type of variable length record format. Synonym lists are used to define groups of entries for brief and full displays and for templates.

Entry ID Synonym List

For information about the entries necessary for sending, formatting, and receiving X12 transactions (EDI), go to “How do I create a Vendor EDI Address Format policy?” in FAQs: Creating and Modifying Address Formats.

This section displays the following attributes.

Full Entries

This attribute contains a synonym list Entry ID policy that defines which fields appear in a workstation display or in report lists as well as the order of the displayed fields. A FULL User Address 1 entry list might include the following simple Entry ID policies: STREET, LINE, CITY/STATE ZIP, DAYPHONE, HOMEPHONE, EMAIL.

Brief Entries

This attribute contains a synonym list Entry ID policy that defines which fields appear in a brief record as well as the order of the displayed fields. The list of entry ID policies is also used to supply user address information in pipe-delimited output files, and may also be used in printed labels. A BRIEF User Address 1 entry list might include the following simple Entry ID policies: STREET, LINE, CITY/STATE, ZIP.

Note: If the City/State entry ID policy is used in pipe-delimited output files, the entry is evaluated as one field, not as two separate fields for the city and the state.

Template Entries

This attribute contains a synonym list Entry ID policy that defines which empty fields appear when the Add Empty Entries properties are used to create items with this format. A TEMPLATE User Address 1 entry list might include the following simple Entry ID policies: STREET, LINE, CITY/STATE, ZIP, DAYPHONE, HOMEPHONE, EMAIL.

Entries List

This section displays a list of entries that are used with the Address Format policies. From this list, you can create, display, modify, or remove entry information. Selecting an entry and clicking the Create, Display, or Modify button displays the following tabs. Clicking Cancel returns you to the list of entries.

Enter, review, or change applicable information, then click Save.

It is not recommended that you remove entries from the entries list, unless you are certain that the entries are not being used by any SirsiDynix Symphony records. If in doubt, contact SirsiDynix Customer Support.

Before creating entry information for this User Address, Vendor Address, or EDI Address Format policy, you may need to create an Entry ID. For more information, see the Entry ID Policy Helper topic.
