Basic Tab for Extended Information Formats

The Basic tab displays when you click an Extended Information Format wizard.

This tab contains the following attributes.

Only the Description attribute may be modified.

Name

This attribute uniquely identifies the Extended Information Format policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-) and underscore (_). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute describes the purpose of the Extended Information Format policy, and is used for reference purposes only. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Record Type

This attribute contains the type of records that will use this Format policy. The record type used for Extended Information-purpose formats is OTHER.

Purpose

This attribute specifies how this Format policy will be used with SirsiDynix Symphony records. SirsiDynix Symphony assigns the purpose when a format is created. For instance, when creating a new user extended information Format policy, SirsiDynix Symphony will assign the USER_EXT purpose to the format.
