From the Display Reservation Profile Policy List window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the Reserve Profile policies. Clicking Cancel closes the window.
Attributes
Name
This attribute uniquely identifies a specific Reservations Profile policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.
Description
This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
Fixed Time Slots
This attribute specifies a list of available fixed time slots that may be scheduled by a user. Only one slot can be scheduled at a time, unless the user's profile allows consecutive reservations. See the Consecutive Reservations Allowed attribute of the User Profile policy for more information. Use the Fixed Time Slots gadget to select fixed time slots.
Fixed time slots may be of any length, and can span different days. For example, you can create a fixed time slot for a reservation starting on Monday and ending on Wednesday. Or, you can create a fixed time slot that spans from one week to another. For example, you can create a time slot from Saturday at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Note: If the Fixed Time Slot reservation configuration is not used, the library retains full control over the scheduling of individual reservations within the available Reserve Desk hours. SirsiDynix Symphony allows you to create up to 56 time slots. The fixed time slot does not override an item's loan period. Fixed time slots should correspond to the loan period used for reserved items.
For example, if the reservation's time slot is two hours and the item's loan period is one hour, the patron will be fined for the second hour of the reservation. If the reservation's time slot is two hours and the item's loan period is two days, no overdue fine will accrue for the time between the end of the reservation time slot and the end of the loan period.
Advanced Reservation
This attribute specifies the maximum amount of time you can make a reservation in advance. Type the amount or use the Day and Time gadget to specify the amount of time.
For example, if the Advanced Reservation value is 30:0:0, the user can make a reservation up to thirty days before today's date. The user can not make a reservation for 31 or more days in advance of today's date. Note The user's User Profile policy must have the Eligible for Reservations attribute set to Yes for the user to make reservations.
Minimum Loan Period
This attribute specifies the minimum amount of time a user can check out an item before an upcoming reservation. Type the amount or use the Day and Time gadget to specify the amount of time.
For example if the Minimum Loan Period value is 0:0:30, the user can check out an item if the upcoming reservation on the item is at least 30 minutes away. If the item has a reservation at 11:00, the user can check out the item at or before 10:30, but not at or after 10:31.
Early Return Time
This attribute specifies the minimum amount of time a user has to return an item before an upcoming reservation. Type the early return time amount, or use the Day and Time gadget to specify the amount of time.
For example, if the Early Return Time value is 0:0:30, the user must return an item on or before 30 minutes before the reservation start time. If the item has a reservation at 12:00, the user must return the item at or before 11:30, but not at or after 11:31.
Expiration Time
This attribute specifies the amount of time after which a user's reservation will expire. Once the reservation has expired, another user may check out the item, or a new reservation may be made. Type the amount, or use the Day and Time gadget to specify the amount of time.
For example, if the Expiration Time value is 3:0:0, the reservation will expire 3 days after the start date and time. If the user made a reservation for 10:00 Monday and does not check out the item by 10:00 Thursday, the reservation expires, and another user can check out the item.
Message Display Time
This attribute specifies the amount of time before an upcoming reservation that will cause a message to display when the item is discharged. Type the amount, or use the Day and Time gadget to specify the amount of time.
For example, if the Message Display Time value is 0:0:10, the Discharge/Checkin wizard will display a message if the item is checked in at or within 10 minutes of the reservation start time. If the item reservation is to start at 9:00, and the item is checked in on or after 8:50, the message displays to notify staff of the upcoming reservation.
