Library Display Profile Wizard

The Library Display Profile policy is used to organize libraries belonging to consortium groups, represented by Consortium Group policies. Unlike the Consortium Membership policy, the Library Display Profile policy controls only how WorkFlows groups libraries' call numbers and items together in the call number/item tree; the organization of consortium groups within Library Display Profile policies can be arranged independent of how the consortium libraries are actually organized in the Consortium Membership policy. Because of this, more than one Library Display Profile policy can exist on the system.

You can specify which Library Display Profile policy controls how the consortium libraries' call numbers and items are grouped for a particular library in that library's Library policy. The configuration of the Library Display Profile policy specified in a library's Library policy will always be used to display groups in the call number/item tree; the Consortium Membership policy will only be used if no Library Display Profile policy has been specified in the Library policy. For more information about setting a Library Display Profile in the Library policy, see the Library Display Profile section of the Library Wizard topic.

After a library display profile has been assigned to a library, the call number and item results for the libraries in the library display profile will appear grouped together under nodes in the call number/item tree, one node for each consortium group in the library display profile. If the station library is not included in any of the Consortium Group policies associated with the selected Library Display Profile policy, WorkFlows lists the station library results in the call number/item tree first, in its own group.

From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, or remove the Library Display Profile policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.

Attributes

The Library Display Profile policy contains the following attributes:

Name

The Name attribute represents a specific library display profile. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.

Description

This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.

Consortium Groups

This attribute specifies which Consortium Group policies make up the membership of this Library Display Profile policy. Click the Policy List gadget and select Consortium Group policies from the list.

Note: SirsiDynix Symphony does not allow duplication of Library policies among the Consortium Group policies you select. For example, if you attempt to save the Library Display Profile policy and both the NORTH and SOUTH Consortium Group policies contained an EAST Library policy, WorkFlows would return an error message reporting the duplication of Library policies among the relevant Consortium Group policies.
