Display Of User PIN Field Policy
The Display Of User PIN Field policy is a Global Configuration policy that is read by the WorkFlows client at startup and stored as a global variable. This policy determines whether or not the system will display the PIN field and how the PIN will be displayed.
The Display Of User PIN Field policy appears on the User Information tab of the Global Configuration wizard. The default value for this policy appears in the Select a Policy window. To modify this value, select Display Of User PIN Field and click Modify. Click a radio button to select one of the policy attributes. Click Save to save your selection. The default value is Display PIN In Readable Format.
A user’s access level will affect whether or not the user can view PINs. The user’s access level is compared to the record’s access level. If the user’s access level is not at least one level above the record’s access level, the login PIN or password on the Privilege tab cannot be seen or modified. Even if the global policies governing the display of PINs are set for the user to view them, the PINs will not appear if the user access level is not high enough to view or modify them. The exception is the System Administrator level, since one user with System Administrator privileges can modify the record of another user with System Administrator privileges.
The exception to this occurs if your library system is configured to use the Policy PINs feature and a user's PIN has been saved in secure storage. In this case, the PIN always displays as asterisks in the interface, regardless of the user access level of the user logged in.
