Manage Hold Shelf Wizard

The Manage Hold Shelf wizard is used to view and process holds currently on the hold shelf. You can modify holds of all statuses in the list manually, and the wizard can analyze inactive holds and determine the next action, such as putting items into transit. By default, you see the holds for your login library: you can use the View Another Library's Holds Helper to select another library whose holds you want to view instead. However, you can only alter holds at your login library.

By default, WorkFlows prints hold slips automatically for each hold you modify that causes the item to be removed from the hold shelf (for example, WorkFlows would print a transit slip if you modified the Pickup At date (if slip printing behavior has been configured in this wizard). If you would rather print hold slips manually, enable the Print Slips Manually setting in the Manage Hold Shelf wizard properties.

To process holds

Note: Items are always routed off the hold shelf after changing the Pickup Library, the Date Suspended range (if the Date Suspended range starts today), or the Date Unsuspended range. However, if you modify the available hold's Date Suspended range to start today using the Modify Holds for User or Modify Holds for Items wizards, the now unavailable hold still displays as suspended within the Manage Hold Shelf wizard.

Note: If you select more than one hold to modify at once, WorkFlows opens one window per hold at a time, displaying each one after another.

You can also save spreadsheet documents (CSV format) of the holds in the list. To save a spreadsheet containing only certain specific holds, select from the list the holds you want to save, then click Export Selected Hold Items. To save a spreadsheet of all holds on the hold shelf or the list of processed hold results (if it has been configured to display in the Manage Hold Shelf Wizard Properties), click the Export Hold Shelf List Helper.

The Export Selected Hold Items button and the Export Hold Shelf List helper are only available if they have been configured to appear in the Manage Hold Shelf wizard properties. For more information, see Manage Hold Shelf Wizard Properties.
