About the User Alerts Window

When attempting to check out or renew items for the user, a User Alerts window may display. Wizard properties control which user alert windows display and how they display. The following conditions may cause a user alert.

If the user has available holds, privilege expired, claimed returned items, and more.
If the user is DELINQUENT or has a DELINQUENT type user status, a message may display with reasons for the delinquency such as overdue materials or unpaid bills. You can determine the reason for the status, take actions to change the user’s status (if desired), and then continue the check out process.
If the user is BLOCKED or has a BLOCKED type user status, an alert message displays with reasons for the block such as overdue materials or unpaid bills beyond the threshold allowed by your library. You can determine the reason for the status, take actions to change the user’s status (if desired), and then continue the check out process.
If the user is BARRED or has a BARRED type user status, an alert message displays. BARRED users cannot check out items. A user cannot be automatically barred or unbarred by SirsiDynix Symphony. Only a library staff member with special privileges can remove the BARRED status.

If your site uses the User Groups feature and this user’s responsibility level is LINKED, then this user will inherit the delinquency status of the worst-case user in the group. If a user in the same group has a delinquent, blocked, or barred type user status, an alert window will display.

If the user has a credit account and policies are configured to automatically pay bills/fines with money from the credit account, bills created during check out or renewal may be paid automatically with funds from the user’s credit account. This process also includes paying check out fees, privilege renewal fees, and more. See FAQs: Credit User Accounts for more information.
