SmartPort Wizard
Use the SmartPort wizard to parallel search or browse multiple Z39.50 bibliographic resources and capture records from these resources.
SmartPort also displays as a helper in Acquisitions to allow titles to be searched and captured.
To use SmartPort

On the Cataloging toolbar, click the SmartPort wizard. |

Connect to one or more destinations in the Connect to Databases window. |
|

In the Search window, under Search, select a search index from the Index list, and type the search text in the Search For field. |
If you are using the labelled field search, select an operator (And, Not, or Or) in the Operator list to further define the search.

Click Search to display search results, click or Browse to begin browsing a connected server. |
In the Search window, under Search Results, results from each connected destination display in discrete areas identified by the name of the destination. If a search was successful, the search results include a hit list number and one or more descriptive lines for each title.

To view title information, do one of the following. |
|

Highlight the title to be viewed, and click Display. |
|
•
|
Double–click the title description in the hit list. |
|

In the Viewing window, do one of the following. |
|

|
Select the Formatted check box to view the title information with descriptive labels. |
|
•
|
Clear the Formatted check box to view the title information unformatted with MARC tags. |
|

Click Close to close the Viewing window. |
|

Click Clear to clear the search results list and start another search, or click Close to exit the Search window. |
You can do the following tasks from the Viewing window. Refer to Viewing Window: SmartPort for more information.

Save title information locally. |
|
•
|
Email title information. |
|
•
|
Capture title record information for use in your library catalog. |
|
•
|
Check title holding status in your library catalog, or in the catalogs of nearby libraries. |
If the WorkFlows client is set to run in single window mode, the following message displays if you try to use another wizard while the SmartPort wizard is open.
There are open wizards that require attention. Please close the wizards.
Close the SmartPort wizard before starting another wizard. If you try to close the SmartPort wizard while an unsaved record is viewed, you are prompted whether you want to save the record.
