Important Considerations When Using this Helper
•
All improper headings of the bibliographic records examined by this helper will be updated. The helper does not warn you about all possible headings that could be changed. |
•
The count displayed for each heading is not a count of the number of bibliographic entries that will be updated. It is a count of the maximum number of bibliographic entries that could be updated by the report. This number may or may not be relevant. For example, there is an authorized term ”Funke, Cornelia Caroline” and the unauthorized term is ”Funke, Cornelia.” All four title records in the database use the authorized term; no records use the unauthorized term. When you run this helper for the ”Funke, Cornelia Caroline” heading in the authority record, the helper reports four headings for ”Funke, Cornelia.” The reason is because the helper searches for the 4XX term ”Funke, Cornelia” and finds matches in ”Funke, Cornelia Caroline.” |

By default, the Global Authority Change helper is delivered unselected in the wizard behavior properties. For example, you are modifying the following authority record. |
•
150 Animals450 Animal kingdom450 Beasts450 Wildlife |
•
When you run the Change Invalid Headings by Authority report, all records in the database that contain the unauthorized entries ”Animal kingdom,” ”Beasts,” and ”Wildlife” will be modified to the authorized entry ”Animals.” Additionally, any subheadings, such as ”Beasts|zCanada” will be updated to ”Animals|zCanada.” |
