Current Search
The Current option displays the last record displayed, modified, or added. A current record does not exist for a workstation session until a search is performed, and a record is viewed, modified, or added. Once a session is closed, the current title is cleared. There is a current record for both user and item.
The record that displays depends on the specific function of the wizard. If you are displaying a title, the current title, current call number or current item, copy number, and control number may appear. If you are displaying a user, the current user appears. If you are displaying serials or orders and there is a current serial or current order, the default will either be the serial record or order record. If there is a current title but no current serial or current order, the default will be current title.
The current record remains active for all wizards until a new search is performed and a specific title is found and displayed, or a new search is performed, and the user selects a title from the hit list to view or modify. If multiple wizards are open, the current record would be the last record displayed in the active window. The current object—title, volume, item, or authority record—will not change in wizards that are already opened.
As items are scanned, the current record is updated internally but does not display in the current record button in the client. This button appears only when wizards open initially.
In Cataloging Wizards
The cataloging search window always defaults to the last search performed in the wizard session. This behavior is not controlled by a wizard property.
In cataloging wizards (including Item Search and Display), the Current item is updated when you do the following.
• | Perform an Exact Search |
• | Click the Current title link |
• | Click a specific item in the Search window view pane |
• | Highlight an item node in the Call Number/Item tree on the Call Number/Item tab |
When you highlight an item node in the Call Number/Item tree, the Current item is updated as follows.
• | If an item tree node is selected, the item ID and call number associated with this node becomes the Current item and call number. |
• | If a call number node is selected, and the call number has multiple items associated with it, this call number and the first item in the node become the Current item and call number. |
• | If a title node is selected, the Current item is not changed. |
When you click the current title in the search window, the client performs an exact call number search and takes you directly to the detailed display window. Once you are finished with that record and return to the search window (by clicking Search), the search window will display your last search by default. In the case of the current title search, the search window will display that last exact call number search.
The Cataloging Review File wizard does not have the Current function.
