Link to Serial Holdings Record Helper

This helper displays only when the MARC Holdings tab is being modified using Serial Control wizards. It allows you to associate the current serial control record with an existing, unlinked MARC Holdings record.

The following criteria should be met before using this helper.

On the OPAC tab of the serial control record, the Automatically Update MARC Holdings field must be selected to permit the update of MARC holdings information.

In a multilibrary setting using serial distributions, the Update MARC Holdings Records field in each distribution record to be added to MARC holdings must be selected. If the Automatically Update MARC Holdings field is selected when a serial control is created, linked holding records are automatically created for each distribution.

To link a serial holdings record

Once previous criteria have been met, click the Link to Serial Holdings Record helper.

You may select an existing, unlinked holdings location from the list, or create a new MARC holdings location.

Select the check box next to the holdings record that you would like to be linked. If you select the new holdings record it will be linked with a location equal to your default holding code. When an unlinked MARC holdings record is attached to a serial control using this helper, a new 853 entry will be created that corresponds to information on the Patterns and Distributions (if configured) tabs.
