Barcode Tab

The Barcode tab appears in the Create Valid Barcode IDs report. This tab displays the following fields.

Barcode Format

This field specifies the barcode subformat. The barcodes will be created using this format. Select a barcode subformat from the drop-down list. Barcode subformats are defined in the Barcode Validation Wizard within selected Barcode policies.

For example, the DRA barcode policy is selected as valid in the Barcode Validation wizard. The DRA barcode policy includes subformat 001, subformat 002, subformat 003, and subformat 004.

Default Barcode Prefix

Type the library’s barcode prefix for user IDs or item IDs. The prefix defined for user IDs and item IDs needs to follow the selected barcode subformat policy for the library.

For example, the prefix for item IDs may be defined as 0530100.

Number of Barcodes

This field specifies the number of barcodes labels to print. Type the number of barcodes.

Starting Significant Digits of Barcode ID

This field specifies the ID the system should start numbering from when creating barcodes. Type the significant digits of the barcode from which to start.

For example, if the defined prefix for item IDs is 0530100, and you enter 300 as the value for Starting Significant Digits of Barcode ID, the report will create the unique portion of the barcode starting from 300, such as 0530100003009, 0530100003017, 5030100003025, and so on.

Include Barcodes that Exist in the System

This field allows you to select whether or not the report will print labels for the barcodes that already exist in the system. Select or clear this check box. By default, this check box is cleared.
