User Category Wizards
The purpose of the optional User Category policies is to establish controlled vocabulary that describes an individual patron’s special characteristics for statistical analysis of circulation and registration. Twelve user categories are available.
On SirsiDynix Symphony K12 systems, the first five User Category Policy wizards are named as follows: Grade wizard; Job Title wizard; Language wizard; Gender wizard; and Internet Use wizard. The Policy wizards for user categories six through twelve have generic "User Category N" labels and can be used to create custom policies. Access to these generic User Category Policy wizards is managed under the Global Configuration Wizard.
From the List Policies window, you can create, display, modify, copy, or remove the User Category policies. Click Close to exit the wizard.
Attributes
The User Category wizards display the following attributes.

The Name attribute uniquely identifies the User Category policy. This name is ten characters or less, and may not include spaces or punctuation, except for dash (-), underscore (_), and dollar sign ($). Additionally, the pipe character (|) may not be used.
This attribute provides more information about the policy and its use by the library. The description may be up to 60 characters in length. Although the Description attribute may contain spaces and punctuation, the pipe character (|) cannot be used.
