FAQs: Using the Search Library Policy

How do I configure the e–Library to display Search Library Policies for qualifying searches?

To modify the drop–down list presented when e–Library users qualify a search by library, you will need to modify the QUICKSEARCH_LIBR OPTIONS iBistro (WebCat) environment parameter.

In /Unicorn/WebCat/Config/ibistro.env or webcat.env for WebCat users (or other specific *.env files for users who should have access to this functionality), the following line needs to be added.

QUICKSEARCH_LIBR_OPTIONS|1|The possible values for this option are 1, 2, or 3.

|1| — Library list includes both Search Library policy names and individual Library policy names
|2| — Library list includes Search Library policy names only
|3| — Library list includes Library policy names only

The default value is 3, to display Library policies only.

The e–Library’s Kept pages library selection list supports the same options as the Quick Search library selection list.

How do I configure the e–Library’s Power Search to use Search Library policies?

In /Unicorn/WebCat/Config/ibistro.env (or any specific *.env files for users who should have access to this functionality) the following line needs to be added.

POWERSEARCH_LIBR_OPTIONS|1|The possible values for this option are 1, 2, or 3.

|1| — Library list includes both Search Library policy names and individual Library policy names
|2| — Library list includes Search Library policy names only
|3| — Library list includes Library policy names only

The default value is 3, to display Library policies only.

|2| — Library list does not include the value ALL

How do I disable the Browse radio button and enable the Browse tab in the e–Library?

Because the Search Library policies do not work for browsing, the Browse radio button needs to be removed from the QuickSearch window and placed on its own tab. In this tab, the Library drop–down list for browsing will only include standard Library policies. This procedure consists of the following two parts:

The Browse radio button needs to be removed from the QuickSearch window.
A new Browse element (for the tab) needs to be constructed using the OPAC Configuration wizard.

Browse Button

To “turn off” the Browse button on the QuickSearch window, add the following line to the /Unicorn/WebCat/Config/system.env file and/or any specific *.env files.
