FAQs: Turning on System Logging
When troubleshooting a problem reported to SirsiDynix Customer Support, customer consultants might ask you to turn on system logging for a specific user. System logs contain a complete record of requests from the client and responses from the server, differing from history logs, which contain only transactions which change one or more database records. By default, system logging is turned off for all users except the SIRSI user. To enable system logging for a different user, follow these steps.
1
Identify the user for whom system logging should be enabled and determine which Environment policy is used by that user. |
2
On the Configuration Module toolbar, click the Access Control Configuration group wizard. |
3
Click the Environment Policy wizard. |
4
Select the appropriate Environment policy, then click Modify. |
5
Select the System Logging check box, then click Save. |
Since system logging can consume a great deal of disk space, it should only be selected for a brief time, and should be cleared (turned off) after the problem has been resolved.
