Configure Logging of Multi-Circ Items at Checkin

The Configure Logging of Multi-Circ Items at Checkin policy is a Global Configuration policy that is read by the WorkFlows client at startup and stored as a global variable. This policy determines whether or not the system will count check in transactions for multi-circ item types as one transaction for each piece, which will be written to the history logs and can be included in the library's circulation statistics reports.

If sites wish to include these multi-piece circulation transactions in reports, when running the Transactions Statistics (Transtat) report, users will need to clear the Exclude Dummy Transactions check box on the Transaction Statistics Selection tab of the report. By default, this report includes multi-piece circulation transactions in the transaction totals.

The Configure Logging of Multi-Circ Items at Checkin policy appears on the Circulation tab of the Global Configuration wizard. The default value for this policy appears in the Select a Policy window. To modify this value, select Configure Logging of Multi-Circ Items at Checkin and click Modify. Click a radio button to select one of the policy attributes. Click Save to save your selection. The default is Do Not Log the Number of Pieces Entered at Checkin for Statistics.

Attributes

This policy includes the following attributes.

Do Not Log the Number of Pieces Entered at Checkin for Statistics

If you click this option, only one transaction is recorded in circulation statistics when a multi-circ item is checked in. This is the default option.

Log the Number of Pieces Entered At Checkin for Statistics

If you click this option, the number of pieces entered at check in will be the number of checkin transactions recorded in circulation statistics. When a multi-circ item is checked in, an "Item has multiple circulating pieces" prompt displays for you to type the number of pieces.
