Subject Source Gadget
The Subject Source gadget is used to select subject headings that should be removed from the matching bibliographic record, based on the MARC21 6XX second indicator values, before loading the record into the catalog.
To select subject heading sources, follow these steps.

Click the Subject Source gadget.  |

Click a subject source in the List to Choose From pane. |

Do one of the following. |
|
•

Click the right arrow button to add the subject source to the List Selected pane.  |
|
•
|
Double-click a subject source in the List to Choose From pane to easily move it to the List Selected pane. |
If you add a subject source that you decide you do not want, do one of the following.

•
|
Click the subject source in the List Selected pane, and click the left arrow button.  |
|
•
|
Double-click the subject source in the List Selected pane to easily move it back to the List to Choose From pane. |

The order of the subject source hierarchy is important. If you want to reorder a selected list, click the tag in the List Selected pane that you want to move, and use the up and down Arrow buttons to rearrange your list.   |

Click OK once you have finished adding subject sources to the hierarchy to save the added information, or click Cancel to return to the previous window without saving the information. |
The valid MARC21 6XX second indicator values you can select using this gadget include the following.

0 = LC Subject Headings |
|
•
|
1 = LC Subject Headings for Children’s Literature |
|
•
|
2 = National Library of Medicine Subject Headings |
|
•
|
3 = National Agricultural Library Subject Headings |
|
•
|
4 = Source not specified |
|
•
|
5 = National Library of Canada Subject Headings |
|
•
|
6 = Répertoire de vedette-matière |
|
•
|
7 = Source specified in subfield 2 |
