Save Helper
Do the following to save the displayed record to a file on the workstation.
1 | Use the Select File gadget to determine the file name to use for the Save Record As field. The file will be saved to the \Sirsi\Workflows\Z3950\Save folder in the home directory on your workstation, which is typically Documents and Settings. |
Click OK to approve the file name, or Cancel to close the Select File gadget.
2 | Do one of the following. |
• | Click Raw to save the record in raw (MARC) format. |
This option can only be used with MARC records. The record file name must have a file extension of .mrc; for example bib2.mrc.
• | Click Text to save the record in text (flat ASCII) format. |

The Save helper works with files that contain records saved from this or any previous search session, or any records saved to the \Sirsi\Workflows\Z3950\Save directory on the workstation. Files can be viewed, duplicated, removed, printed, imported, or exported.
If you are saving records to be imported and will be using the reports for loading bibliographic and authority records, you should select to save them using the recommended format for that purpose (MARC or text). Records in a text file print with descriptive labels and are easier to read than records in a raw file.
One of the following messages will display if you do not enter a file name or if you type a file name without the correct file extension.
The raw marc record can be saved only in a .mrc file. Please enter a filename with the correct format.
The formatted marc record can be saved only in a .txt file. Please enter a filename with the correct format.
