Using WorkFlows Java client to print large numbers of labels for one title has been optimized. Some Call/Copy type elements have been optimized for printing. Elements in the list followed by an asterisk are the optimized elements. Consider selecting only these elements when printing a large number of item labels, and particularly when selecting the auto-printing feature in the Add Ordered Items to Catalog wizard.

As you create a label, you can add Text elements to the label. You can use text elements to add punctuation to the label or other information that does not come from MARC records.

If you want the library name to print on the labels produced by the Print Custom Labels report, you will need to add the library as a Text element in the label template. The Library Description value will not appear in the Call/Copy element list of values on single library systems.

If the Value of Image is set to Photo of User, the photo information is taken from the User Extended Information policy.
If the Value of Image is set to URL Image, you may enter a URL address in the URL text field of no more than 256 characters. No URL validation is performed. The URL image uses the entire label of display (i.e., the image will fill the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the label). SirsiDynix does not recommend using other elements in a label when printing a URL image.
The URL field can use a number of URL address formats, such as http:, file:, ftp:, etc.
To use a background image, create a label containing the background image first (label 1), then create another label on top of that label (label 2). Use the next and previous arrows in the Label Set Preview to move easily move between numbered labels.
Primary Address
When Primary Address is the selected element Type, you can select a value from the Value list as an element on a label line. All Primary Address entries defined for the USERADDR1 policy will appear in this list, if that is used as the primary address. Your system may have the following options.

Important Considerations When Creating Label Templates
•
Although you can add a large text string in the Text box, the size of your label may cause SirsiDynix Symphony to truncate your line to fit on the label. |
•
For all element values except Call Number, no more than 2 lines will print, no matter how many lines you specify in the Maximum number of lines box. For example, you have both Title and Author (two elements) on one line, and you want to be sure that both elements display, so you enter 4 in the Maximum number of lines box. If the title is lengthy and takes up 4 lines and because of the maximum limit of 2, the title would truncate at 2 lines, and the Author would follow, up to a maximum of 4 lines. |
•
For the Call Number element, the number of lines specified in the Maximum number of lines box will print if the number of lines can be accommodated on the selected label. If the maximum number of lines is more than the label allows, an error message will display with the maximum number of lines that can be used and that the value must be changed. |
•
If you choose to split your call number, remember to increase your maximum number of lines to accommodate the splitting. |
•
The number of lines per element displays in the Label area in parenthesis next to the line because there may be more than one element per line. |
•
A space does not appear automatically between elements on a label. For example, if you have a line with the element <Permanent> and an element <Circulate>, it will look like this: PermanentCirculate. To add a space, you need three elements: <Permanent><><Circulate>, so that your label will look like this: Permanent Circulate. |
