Bound-with Wizard
The Bound-with wizard is used to link titles bound together. When using the Bound-with wizard functions, keep in mind the following.
•
A child call number with items cannot be bound with a parent call number. |
•
A child call number can be linked to only one parent, but a parent call number can be linked to any number of child call numbers. |
•
A child call number cannot be used as a parent call number for another item. |
•
Parent and child call numbers must be cataloged in the same library. |
•
The parent call number must have at least one item. |
For information on getting around in the Bound-with window, go to About the Bound-with Window.
To create bound-with links

Click the Special Cataloging Functions group wizard. |
2
Click the Bound-with wizard. |

If the View pane is turned on and your search finds results, a list of matching records displays in the View pane (lower portion of the window) on the Records tab. The Description and Call Number/Item tabs also display. These tabs provide additional record information. If your search results in one hit, WorkFlows automatically displays the record in the View pane. |

On the Records tab, select the child record you want to link, and then click Add to Tree. The record displays in the Bound-with tree pane. |

With the parent record expanded in the Bound-with tree, select the parent item, and then click Link to link the parent call number to the child call number. A Bound-with Operation Results dialog box displays with information about the bound-with status, bound-with child, bound-with parent, and description. Click OK to close the dialog box. |

After the bound-with record has been created, click Close to close the wizard. |
Important Considerations When Using this Wizard
•
Users can only bind call numbers and items for libraries in their Call Number Maintenance and Item Maintenance library groups. |
•
On the Record tab, if you select a title that has been bound, the Bound-with Information tab displays in the View pane. |
•
To remove records from the tree, select the record you want to remove, and then click Remove from Tree. |
•
To unlink child records, select the record you want to unlink, and then click Remove Link. |
•
You can select multiple records in the Bound-with tree. To select sequential records, click the first record, hold down SHIFT, and then click the last record. All records between the first and last selection are highlighted. To select non-sequential records, hold down CTRL and then click each individual record. |
•
When shadowing or unshadowing a parent record, the child records’ shadow flags are updated accordingly. |
