FAQs: Restricting the Display of Reserve Records
Using the Display Reserve wizard properties, you can restrict the display of your reserve information based on the following information.
Based on this information, SirsiDynix Symphony may display a single reserve control record, a list of reserve control records, or a list of instructor/course reserve records.
Restricting the Display by Bibliographic Level
SirsiDynix Symphony displays a set level of bibliographic information unless the display is based on the instructor and/or course.
|
•
|
If Copy is selected as the level, the Display Reserve wizard displays record information about the reserve for the specified copy, if placed on reserve. |
|
•
|
If Call is selected as the level, Display Reserve wizard displays reserve control records containing the specified call number. This level is the default value. If a single reserve control record displays, copy information is included. |
|
•
|
If Title is selected as the level, the Display Reserve wizard displays reserve control records containing the specified title. If a single reserve control record displays, copy information is included. |
You can also specify whether to display extended information about the reserved item.
The options to restrict the display of reserve records based on bibliographic level can be set on the Defaults tab of the Display Reserve wizard’s Set Properties window.
If the display is based on an item ID or call number at the COPY level, SirsiDynix Symphony ignores the Library and Stage criteria since only one record can be associated with a particular copy.
Restricting the Display by Instructor/Course Stage
If the display is based on the instructor and/or course, you can restrict the display based on the current stage of the instructor/course record. Reserve material for an instructor or course may be marked as currently on reserve (ACTIVE), not on reserve (INACTIVE), or about to be placed on reserve (PREPARE).
The option to restrict the display of reserve records based on instructor/course stage can be set on the Defaults tab of the Display Reserve wizard’s Set Properties window.
Restricting the Display by Library
SirsiDynix Symphony can display reserved materials from a specific library or from all libraries in the library system. You can also specify how much information to display about a reserved item. You can use the Configure Search Options for Item Search helper to display reserved materials for a certain library and specify how much information to show for each reserved item found.
