Create Course Wizard

The Create Course wizard is used to create a course record. Each course that requires reserve copies must have a course record. Course records provide information about the courses for which reserve materials are needed. SirsiDynix Symphony links the course records with individual instructor/course reserve records. This link allows SirsiDynix Symphony to associate copies located at a specific Reserve Desk with specific courses and instructors. Because SirsiDynix Symphony cannot associate a copy with a course until a course record exists in the SirsiDynix Symphony database, course records must be created before any reserve records are created.

To create a course record

Click the Create Course wizard.

In the Course Id box, type a course ID that identifies the course (usually identified with a course number) and click Create Course.

Type the name of the course in the Course Name box.

In the Terms Offered list, select the academic term or terms during which the course is taught. The values that display in the Terms Offered list are configured in the Course Term policy.

In the No. of Students box, type the number of students enrolled in the selected course.

Click Create to set the information and create the course.

To save the course you just created, click the Save button.

If you click Cancel, a confirmation dialog will display. Click Yes to remove this course record, or No to keep the course record.

After the course is saved, a confirmation dialog displays and prompts you to do one of the following.

Save to change information to this course record

Create Another to create another course record

•

Cancel to cancel creating or editing this course record

•

Close to exit the wizard
